The MRP Buyer is responsible for the procurement of Raw Materials and/or Packaging Components, in accordance with lean principles, for the Process/Product Centered Organization. The MRP Buyer also serves as the primary contact between the plant and its raw material and component suppliers, dealing with supplier issues and monitoring supplier on time delivery. Work as team member within the Internal Value Chain Team. The team makes decisions about how the work is accomplished while adhering to Operation Methods Sheets, Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety Procedure and Lean “Rules” and established inventory policies and or targets. This position develops strategies to ensure that obsolescence is kept to a minimal. This role is an active member and or can lead the MRB (Material Review Board) process.

Responsible for the procurement of raw material or packaging components. Validate and process requisitions into purchase orders thru the ERP system. Place purchase orders and ensure purchase orders are received on time and purchase orders quantities received are updated in the system to have accurate information. Maintain safety stock inventories. Follow-up with QA to ensure materials are approved when needed for production. Troubleshooting/problem solving/expending for raw materials and/or packaging components. Review and generate reports. Issues material disposal inventory form (MDA) for rejected raw materials and packaging components. Negotiates returns, re-work and re-inspections with suppliers and issues paperwork and coordinates return to vendor (RTV). Monitors supplier performance (delivery and quantity). Escalate supplier issues. Support new products implementation. Work with the Commodity Managers to bring supplier lead times and order quantities in line with the plant’s needs. Maintains and ensures accuracy of all information. Proactively identifies opportunities for reductions in raw materials and packaging components inventories and continuously works to achieve these reductions. Support Finance with Product Cost Planning related to raw materials and/or packaging components. Monitors on time payment reports. Manage materials and packaging components obsolescence. Analyzes Purchase Price Variance and take action to reduce or eliminate it. Procure materials for New Products. Participate in business meetings (Gemba Walks, reliability, MRB process, among others). Advise management of the status for material availability and supplier potential issues. This individual must thrive in a cross-functional collaborative environment. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications


This position requires a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, or related major. An advanced degree such as an MBA, and professional certifications (CPM or CPSM) are preferred. Four (4) years of experience in the regulated manufacturing industry required. Two (2) years of materials management or procurement experience required. Overall knowledge and experience of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) and regulatory compliance and thorough knowledge of Supply Chain, Planning Process and Materials Management are required. Strong analytical and influencing skills with the ability to partner with associates at all levels of the organization. Project management experience is preferred. Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish are required. Proficiency in the use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Internet, SAP and Trackwise is required. Physical requirements of the position include carrying less than 10 pounds occasionally, and requires sporadic pull and push, bend forward and backwards, twist waist and neck, hand arm; frequently stand, walk, sit, talk, listen, grab with one or both hands; and constantly close vision, handwriting, use of computer and general offices machines / tools s and instruments.
