The department of Maintenance, Engineering&Technology (OET), Geel is currently looking for a :
(Senior) Process Technology Engineer
The goal of OET is to be a technological/technical solutions provider for Development and Production of small molecule API’s, focusing on process installations. OET is active in or leads the following business processes, always in close collaberation with other functions such as Production, Compliance, Development, global technical services (GTS):
- Masterplanning of facilities, infrastructure and equipment, including capital portfolio management;
- Site project prioritization (incl. capital) and program management;
- Capital projects management: problem definition, business case development and selection of alternatives, implementation, resource management, document management, and after care;
- New Technologies, including scouting and pilot implementations;
- Compliance, qualification, periodic review;
- Knowledge Management (process technologies);
- Maintenance and lifecycle management of process installations
All of this is embedded in an environment characterized by high investment levels, increasing complexity and need for external collaboration, and an increasing need for new technologies and innovation. Within Janssen supply chain (JSC), OET is a critical partner with respect to the evaluation and introduction of new process technologies for small molecule API Development and Production.
Current job opening is situated in the area of new process technologies and innovation and general activities include:
- Identification and evaluation of new process technologies for ;
- Introduction of new technology platforms in the development organization and JSC;
- Identification of opportunities to increase process efficiency by technological modifications/innovation and process optimization in development and commercial production and execute required study work;
- Project lead of small and midsize study and capital projects (up to € 1 million) with focus on process and technology investments;
More specifically, job owner will have to take up a role in the use and rollout of modeling tools on the Geel site. Specific roles and responsibilities include:
- Take up technical expert/ownership role for selected modeling tools in the domains of molecular properties, motions of liquids and solids (eg. CFD), statistical modeling (eg. MVA, softsensor development) and/or reaction and process design (eg. Aspen, Dynochem)
- Support capability build on selected modeling tools in collaboration with global partners and perform specific modeling study work
- Interface with global process analytical tools (PAT) office and PAT experts withing development and JSC to develop data gathering strategy for selected PAT tools
In addition to above tasks, the job of technology engineer can be complemented with other (temporary) assignments: technology expert selected platforms, portfolio management, ….
Kwalificaties
- Master or PhD in Engineering or Science (Chemistry/Process Technology) or equivalent curriculum
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis and/or use of relevant modelling tools, either in an academic or industrial environment
- Willingness to absorb new areas of expertise
- Ability to efficiently interface with and execute/coordinate technology study work and optimization projects in both an R&D/development and a commercial production environment
- Coordination of and collaboration with a wide variety of internal and external people and resources, strong networker
- Multiproject management
For this position, the required modelling expertise should link to at least one of the following competence areas:
- Reactor technology (batch/continuous)
- API particle tuning (control of physical and chemical API properties)
- API purification
- Product isolation&drying
