Janssen Supply Chain

Johnson & Johnson is the world's most comprehensive and broadly based healthcare Company, touching the lives of nearly a billion people every day. Our Family of Companies throughout the world compete in consumer, pharmaceutical and medical devices and diagnostics markets and have the skills and resources to tackle the world's most pressing health issues.

Description

Janssen Supply Chain (JSC) is the global organization responsible for supplying medicines to markets around the world. Within Janssen Supply Chain, Product Management is responsible for assessing & integrating new business opportunities, successfully launching new products, ensuring their availability, and optimizing the supply chain performance throughout the product life cycle.

Value Stream Leaders (VSL) are entrusted with the overall stewardship and accountability for assigned commercially marketed products and compounds within a specific therapeutic area. This is an entrepreneurial role, with a mix of strategic and tactical elements in an international environment. As VSL you serve as a leader within the supply chain for a set of products, and it's your primary responsibility to optimize the Janssen supply chain performance for those products through end-to-end product ownership.

A specific cluster of products is the OTC-cluster; these are the Over the Counter products manufactured by JSC. Most of these OTC products have sales in both Pharma and Consumer. Since two years there is a dedicated team in Value Stream Management taking care of this complex product portfolio. Additionally to the role described above, the VSLs in this team are also responsible for managing the cross-sector interface and for driving end-to-end supply chain optimization across the two sectors. To improve the value stream management service for our OTC portfolio, the team will expand with an additional VSL in Asia (complementary to our presence in Europe and US).

For this Director Value Stream Management position we are looking for a seasoned individual as this position has a very wide range of responsibilities and accountabilities and requires a broad insight in supply chain management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibility of the Value Stream Leader is to optimize the supply chain performance for a set of products through end-to-end product ownership and cross-sector collaboration. The Value Stream Leader leads several cross functional and cross-sector teams that represent all key stakeholders of the Value Chain and has specific responsibilities in the 6 Key Value Stream Management Processes:

- Product Strategy Development,
- Life Cycle Management (LCM) Projects & LCM Portfolio Prioritization,
- Product Operational Management,
- Issue Management,
- Stakeholder Mgmt/Product Communication
- Product Sourcing.

1. Product Strategy Development requires the VSL to be accountable and responsible for the development of the Supply Chain Strategic Roadmap for a Product over a 3 to 5 yrs strategic planning horizon. The strategic roadmap development includes alignment with key stakeholders such as commercial teams, and other J&J and JSC functions on the product lifecycle strategy. Depending on whether the final product ownership is with Pharma or Consumer, the VSL either leads or facilitates this exercise.
2. LCM Projects & LCM Portfolio Prioritization requires the VSL to be accountable and responsible to scope the Life Cycle Mgmt (LCM) Projects, to build the business cases and to drive the LCM Prioritization Governance Team to a decision to approve or reject the project. Once approved, the Value Stream Leader stays accountable for the project execution by sponsoring the project leaders to deliver the projects within scope, timing and budget.
3. Product Operational Management requires the VSL to be accountable and responsible to continuously improve the supply chain performance of a product by running on a yearly base and with a certain rhythm a set of activities such as the Value Stream Team Meetings, Monitoring of the product performance (delivery, margin, cost, inventory, quality) against targets, COGS optimization, SKU Delisting etc.
4. Issue Management requires the VSL to be responsible for the issue resolution management of supply & quality events that are potentially impacting the supply towards the markets for all assigned products.
5. Product Stakeholder Management/Communication requires that the Value Stream Leader is accountable and responsible to generate product communication within the JSC Supply Chain. This includes issue related communication as well as regular communication.
6. Product Sourcing requires that the Value stream leader is accountable and responsible to support the JSC Sourcing Committee with Sourcing Business Cases.

Seen the additional complexity of having a portfolio shared by both Pharma and Consumer, the VSL for OTC has the responsibility to set-up and maintain a set governance structures that allow overseeing the multiple realities of a cross-sector product and that drive cross-sector decision taking.

This Value Stream Leader is part of a broader team of value stream leaders of which a sub-team is specialized in dealing with the OTC portfolio. This Value Stream Leader reports to the Senior Director Value Stream Management for OTC.
