Ethicon Biosurgery is a leading provider of proven solutions to address a range of bleeding and leaking situations – from routine to problematic -- during surgical procedures. These solutions can be used for open and minimally invasive procedures across broad range of specialties: cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, vascular, spine, neuro, GYN, urology, orthopedic, ENT, bariatric, plastic and general surgery. Our product portfolio includes proprietary oxidized regenerated cellulose hemostats; gelatin powder and sponges; a flowable hemostatic matrix; human thrombin, and fibrin sealant. Additionally, Ethicon Biosurgery encompasses the Biopatch® line of business, an evidence-based dressing choice for local infections, catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) and skin colonization of microorganisms commonly related to CRBSI in patients with central venous or arterial catheters. The Worldwide Finance Director will serve as a key leader on the Ethicon Biosurgery Management Board; the Biosurgery Portfolio Review Board; and co-lead the worldwide Biosurgery Commercial Council with the V.P. of Global Strategic Marketing. The Worldwide Finance Director will also be a member of Ethicon’s Finance Leadership Team. This position will report to the Global Surgery Group CFO and be located in Somerville, NJ.
As the Biosurgery Finance Leader, responsibilities will include being a business partner to the Ethicon Biosurgery President. Responsibilities also include the development of business wide strategy, including the analysis of the innovation portfolio and challenging the GMB and the Ethicon Biosurgery organization to assure that the business delivers on its commitments. Additionally, he/she will influence the organization and leaders in a highly matrix organization (innovation, supply chain, business development and others) as well as partner with business development in the assessment, analysis and implementation of business development initiatives (licensing, acquisition, distribution agreements). He/she will also monitor business performance and drive business to adjust course as needed. Additionally, he/she will have a full understanding of key OUS markets to drive strategy and coordinate with Global Supply Chain on capital and capacity initiatives.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) is required and a degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. An advanced degree, CPA or CMA is also preferred. Experience at the Director / Controller level is required. At least 10 years of relevant finance/accounting experience or at least five (5) years of relevant finance/accounting experience coupled with five (5) or more years of business management experience required. Strong analytical and accounting skills are required. Experience with and the ability to frame issues/opportunities for senior management is required. The ability to influence outcomes and to manage and prioritize multiple requirements is required. Strong communication skills, the ability to present to and influence all levels and act as a change agent required. Strategic planning and business plan development required. Solid working knowledge of financial processes and procedures required. Ability to connect across multiple functions and partner appropriately with key stakeholders to drive overall business success required. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple requirements at the same time required. Proven ability to identify root cause of problems/issues and appropriately engage others in the identification and implementation of a solution required. Prior experience in the areas of product pipeline and portfolio management desired. Proven leadership experience in training, leading, inspiring and motivating direct and indirect individuals and/or teams required. This position requires an individual with a global mindset. Financial leadership experience in a regulated environment is desired. This position requires approximately 10-20% domestic/international travel. This position is located in Somerville, NJ.
