Aim of the position

As process engineer in downstream processing you will plan, coordinate, execute and evaluate project work in a process development environment. Embedded in a small, dynamic team, your focus is on process improvements, characterization and scale-up of a wide variety of techniques. With your scientific rigor, positive attitude and creativity, you will contribute to the overall improvements of DSP processes, with the final goal of transferring these processes into a cGMP-compliant pilot plant. You will profit from your scientific background and analytic mindset for reporting, analysis and interpretation of obtained results. Your easy-going nature and team spirit will allow you to take responsibility for, and efficiently lead your peers through, selected work packages.
Competencies
- Planning, coordination and execution of process development and scale up
- Generation of candidate vaccines for preclinical evaluation
- Establishment, review and implementation of process related documents (study plans, batch records, study reports, standard operation procedures …)
- Sample organization within the downstream processing (DSP) area including reception and evaluation of data
- Evaluation of new or improved technologies to enhance product quality, manufacturing cost efficiencies, personnel safety and regulatory compliance
- Contribution to activities such as maintenance of equipment and rooms, ordering, and support of other departments
- Group-internal responsibility and technical lead for selected work packages
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Masters Degree within the area of Biotechnology, Food Technology, Biology or similar with a minimum of 1 - 2 years of professional experience (pharma, biotech or vaccine industry preferred)
- In-depth knowledge/hands-on experience with different DSP techniques (centrifugation, tangential flow filtration, chromatography, depth filtration, etc.)
- Flexible team player with the ability to prioritize
- Ability to work according to tight and changing timelines
- Basic knowledge and/or experience in cGMP/GLP
- Business fluent in German, good conversational skills in English
