The Senior Scientist will be responsible for conducting research directed toward discovery and/or development of new technologies in the Sun Innovation Platform. The Senior Scientist will be responsible for conducting literature and patent searches; organization and assimilation of literature search results; design of experiments; execution of experiments and clinical research; data acquisition, analysis and interpretation; development for proof-of-concept studies. The Senior Scientist will work closely with internal R&D partners and external collaborators to define project objectives and timelines and execute projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability in the following areas: apply concepts of photobiology for clinical research and improved skin health, preparation and delivery of technical presentations; technical writing and publication. Independently designs experiments/analyses results and conclusions. Generates innovative ideas to create value. Initiates and performs assigned research activities within established guidelines. Ensures compliance with regulatory agency regulations and interpretations. Displays increasing levels of independence at work and task and handles complex responsibility. Applies organizational understanding and awareness and participates in decision making in collaboration with others.

Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Photobiology, Biophysics, Biophotonics, Photophysics, Bioengineering or related discipline and 5 years of related industry experience is required OR a Master’s degree in Photobiology, Biophysics, Biophotonics, Photophysics, Bioengineering or related discipline and 3 years of related industry experience is preferred OR a PhD in Photobiology, Biophysics, Biophotonics, Photophysics, Bioengineering or related discipline and 2 years of related industry and/or postdoctoral experience is preferred.
Proven expertise or concentration in Photobiology/Biophysics/Photophysics is required.
Prior industrial or post doctoral experience is preferred.
Expertise in the understanding of Sun/UV/photons on skin biology is required.
Expertise in understanding on the effect of solar radiation on skin health (skin damage, photoaging, skin cancer) at a fundamental level is required.
Experience in novel methods to assess skin biology under exposure to light is required.
Prior knowledge of sunscreen is preferred.
The candidate must possess proven scientific leadership through publications/patents in the field of photobiology.
The ability to partner with cross functional teams within a research and development environment is required.
Leading and managing technical projects is required.
Experience with patent or literature searching is required.
The candidate must abreast with current state of research in the area of photobiology.
The ability to create and deliver technical presentations is necessary.
Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel is required.
