Vistakon, a division of J&J Vision Care is currently recruiting for an Engineer for Optical Metrology for their Jacksonville, Florida facility.

As part of the Optical Metrology team, the engineer would be accountable for methodologies to test new and existing product characteristics and performance. Methodology development includes the construction, validation, documentation and support of all optical and dimensional test methods. Supports work with product development teams to transfer design requirements into test methods. Manages hardware acquisition efforts, working with suppliers to create new systems within budgetary and schedule constraints. Monitors industry trends for opportunities to develop new testing methodologies. Leads in-lab efforts to improve existing test methods, leveraging available technologies. Contributes to the development of long-term strategies for upgrading and expanding metrology capabilities. Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives.

Qualifications


BS in Optics, Physics, or Engineering with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. MS or PhD in Optics, Physics, or Engineering preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop testing methods for the qualification of optical systems is preferred. Experience with design and/or manufacturing techniques for optical systems is preferred. Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in problem solving is preferred. Ability to develop analysis packages in computer software (such as Excel, MatLab, IDL) is preferred. Effective skills in working in teams. Motivation to be a self-starter.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to convey technical issues in general business settings is a requirement.

The ability to travel up to 10% both domestic and international is requirement.
