The Associate Director of Reimbursement & Economic Insights is responsible for developing and implementing reimbursement and market access strategies that establish the value of the ETHICON Surgical Care products and specialties for the US region. This may include developing payer and provider reimbursement and health economics strategies that optimize the adoption of ETHICON products and related procedures and tailoring and/or developing evidence and outcomes based tools that differentiate and demonstrate the value of ETHICON products (e.g., Endocutters, Wound Closure, etc.) and target specialties to providers The Associate Director will work closely with the US HEMA Market Access Solution function responsible for the development procedure selling tools and business solutions that that demonstrate the value of the overall ETHICON brand and full portfolio of products (e.g. MIP, Women’s Health, etc). The Associate Director will also work closely with the Field HEMA team and will collaborate with key business partners including Strategic Account Marketing, Marketing, Global HEMA, Medical Affairs and others.
The Associate Director of Reimbursement & Economic Insights is responsible for developing and implementing the US reimbursement and health economic strategy for commercial and pipeline projects focused on products and priority specialties. S/he develops evidence and economic tools to drive coverage and adequate payment of priority specialties and to drive product adoption by the providers/hospitals for delivery , conducts health economic and market access assessment of new and existing products and procedures, provides data to support pricing and product marketing strategies, and engages and partners with external stakeholder (medical societies, payers, providers, surgeons, etc.) to drive strategies. S/he is responsible for monitoring the impact of changes in the reimbursement environment and identify issues that may positively or negatively impact product or procedure adoption; identifies evidence, and data required to improve existing value propositions for products and key specialties, partners with marketing, R&D and Global HEMA to develop and deliver product/portfolio claims and evidence and with Brand teams to integrate value story into brand messaging/positioning, and develops and implements evidence and outcomes projects. S/he creates evidence-based value messages tailored to address the US, aligns value messaging, evidence and tools to health care trends and metrics, collaborate with global HEMA, and marketing to develop and execute the US HEMA strategy to support new product launches. S/he collaborate with Market Access Solution and Field Market Access functions to execute payer and provider strategies, engages other regional HEMA organization and other J&J business units and operating companies to identify best practices and opportunities to drive operational efficiencies through collaboration, and when appropriate, collaborate with J&J Government Affairs to develop or executive strategies related to state or federal government initiatives.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Health Economics or related area with a minimum of 6 years of experience in health economic, market access or reimbursement or related field is required. A Masters or PhD Degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, MHA, Pharm D) is preferred. Knowledge of outcomes research and economic modeling is preferred. Strong technical experience related to hospital financing, reimbursement and economic evaluation and/or modeling is preferred. Strong project management skills are preferred. Effective written & verbal communication skills and demonstrated initiative are required. Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare environment and the legal issues impacting the health care industry and the role of reimbursement is required. Experience with securing coverage and payment of technology and procedures is required. Experience in the development and utilization of Health Economic and Reimbursement data is preferred. Experience in the development product evidence and claims is required. Medical Device experience is preferred. Knowledge required in: US payer systems and reimbursement (coding, coverage and payment) and health technology assessment and US Health Policy and policy related strategies. Overnight domestic travel of up to 20% may be required. This position will be in Cincinnati, OH or Somerville, NJ.
