Description
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary oncology research team focused on the drug discovery and early development of novel small or large molecule drug candidates in Shanghai, China. This may include expanding and strengthening the company’s internal and external networks, research project coordinate, out sourcing to CROs, discovery or translational project initiation and execution,. This individual should have a well established track record in scientific research, ideally in pharmaceutical R&D. Good communication skills, scientific problem solving capability, as well as an ability to interact with collaboration partners both internally and externally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•A flexible approach for identifying solutions and opportunities for drug discovery in Oncology.
•Proactive participation and contribution to the scientific community within JNJ will be expected through presentations and critical thinking at internal scientific forums.
•The successful candidate may be actively engaged in participating and evaluating progress in collaborative programs with external partners, so experience in collaborative research would be desirable.
•The opportunities exist within the company to develop new research projects and ideas and the successful candidate will be encouraged to bring new proposals forward for endorsement and feasibility work with the view to forming new multidisciplinary teams focused on the discovery and development of new drugs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•The candidate should have a PhD in biology, molecular biology or biochemistry, with minimum three years experience in pre-clinical drug discovery research, preferably in a pharmaceutical setting.
•Working experience in cell based assay set up, optimization, and execution is required.
•Hands on lab experience with cutting edge cellular and molecular technologies related to Oncology research would be a clear advantage.
•The ideal candidate would also have a working knowledge of the challenges and experimental systems linked to drug discovery and early development.
•Demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment.
•Good written and oral communication skill
•Experience in interacting with regional (China/Korea/Taiwan/Singapore) pharmaceutical/life science research institutions, industry, and key opinion leaders is highly preferred
•Fluent in English and Chinese, both oral and written.
