Courcelles is one of the three strategic distribution hubs of CLS in EMEA, based in Belgium and is one of largest and most complex Johnson and Johnson distribution facilities in the world. This 3PL staffed DC manages a high daily order throughput direct to hospitals in 24 countries, and also ships large volumes into and out of the region. More than 80% of all MD&D products moved within the region flow at some point through this DC. The strategic importance of Courcelles for MD&D and the high levels of customer satisfaction that are required make this a high profile leadership position that requires someone who can manage complexity, and is capable of decision making in a fast paced and sometimes pressurized environment.
The Director Distribution Courcelles is responsible for all activities inside the MD&D Johnson & Johnson Distribution center (DC) in Courcelles, as well as the performance of this DC towards its customers. He/She will work with our Third party partners as well as other internal/external stakeholders to maintain service levels and key metrics at a constant high level.
The Director Distribution Courcelles is a member of leadership team of the “CLS EMEA – hubs and major projects” organization. This means that they will work closely with colleagues from the Pharma hubs in Beerse and La Louviere and contribute through network and customer improvement initiatives to the further evolution of the J&J distribution network within the region.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for appropriate EHS strategy & execution inside the DC
- Lead Johnson & Johnson management team – DC Courcelles
- Lead effective distribution performance to the customer
- Lead 3PL inside the building at all levels: strategically, tactically and operationally – a local organisation of approximately 500 people.
- Measurement and reporting
- Member of Hubs & major projects Leadership team – CLS EMEA
- Managing operations that also run overnight and during the weekends
- Responsible for following up the DC performance and the service to the customer and taking actions towards involved parties if needed
- Responsible for Innovation and Improvement in distribution services in a proactive manner towards customer requirements
- Responsible for the annual DC budget of $36m (setting up, defending until approval, realising the commitments and CIP’s, reporting) (OPEX & CAPEX)
- Responsible for rolling out the compliance objectives in all layers of the organisation and make resources available to implement the compliance strategy.
- Responsible for people development & training.
- Responsible for effective coordination of the distribution process with our extended supply chain partners.
- Responsible for the adherence to appropriate Quality standards and local and J&J GDP regulations and requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience in medical device / Pharmaceutical Distribution and/or supply chain
- Experience of complex fast moving distribution environment
- Experience of constructing and managing a complex operational business plan
- Masters degree in logistics/supply chain or equivalent.
- Knowledge of distribution and/or manufacturing processes and systems
- Knowledge of IT systems in an operational environment like ERP Systems and warehouse management systems/warehouse control systems, scanning and automation.
- Experience in partnering with operating companies
- Demonstrated people management & leadership capability
- Strong interpersonal skills, team player, influencing without authority and strong demonstrated stakeholder management
- Willingness to travel with work
- Capable of handling operations that continue throughout the night and at weekends
- Able to work in cross functional and multicultural environment
- Experience with 3PL contractor management is an asset
- Fluent in English. Working knowledge of French an advantage
