Assistant Scientist (Technician) Preclinical Immunology (m/f)
Department:
The Viral Vaccines department is part of the Innovation and Discovery Laboratory and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against infectious diseases.
Within the Viral Vaccines department, the preclinical immunology group evaluates the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccine candidates against infectious diseases in animal models. The main focus of the group is to conduct proof of concept studies and to generate appropriate scientific data that enable our vaccine candidates to progress towards clinical phase evaluation.
Job description:
We are looking for a technician who is motivated to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment, performing both routine work and more exploratory experiments. Preferred candidates will have a strong motivation to help developing vaccines against infectious diseases and other public health threats, and a positive attitude towards vaccination. Within a team you will be investigating the immunological response to new viral vaccine candidates in development using animal models. These vaccine candidates may include vaccines against Influenza, HIV, HPV or RSV. Techniques that you will use include ELISA, neutralizing antibody assays to measure virus entry inhibition, ELISPOT, intracellular cytokine staining and other immunology and virology-related assays. The position requires planning and performing of experiments, followed by data analysis and reporting and presenting of the data to the responsible scientist.
Kwalificaties
Education
- You have an HLO or MSc degree in a life science related field.
Experience
- Experience with immunological and virological techniques is a plus but not mandatory.
- Certification to perform animal experiments (Art. 9 or Art. 12) is required.
Competences:
The candidates fit for the job are accurate, flexible, display ownership, initiative and team spirit. Very good knowledge of English, both verbally and written, is required.
