Synthes Trauma is recruiting for a Software Technology Architect located in West Chester, PA. Synthes Trauma offers a broad portfolio of orthopaedic fracture fixation products, including screws, plates, nails and other implants used to fix broken bones.

The Software Technology Architect is responsible for conducting, leading and coordinating software design activities with internal and external project teams, including key design decisions for the technology, structure and configuration of the system. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of quality software design and user interface for project relating to Trauma products. They assist software product development team in application architecture and design, and manage software design and delivery across multiple internal and external software product development teams by designing user interaction models, workflows and user interfaces. They must communicate with internal staff on trends in software development, integrate internal and external product design into a cohesive user experience, and create prototypes, wireframes and authoring detailed specifications, while working with user experience researchers to design and observe usability studies.
The incumbent will translate usability and field research findings into design improvements, while working with visual designers to improve and refine product visual design and consistency, and successfully communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale. They provide guidance to support staff on software development and maintenance, manage the initiation and development of new products that incorporate software as part of the final configuration, and ensure coordination with development teams on completion of functional specifications for software design and user interfaces. They define standards and templates for user interface development, review and critique the team’s business requirement documents, ensuring user interface designs, project scope, and requirements’ clarity meet standards. They must create or assist in the creation and management of product software project plans, and work with all departments to ensure User Interface designs satisfy business and compliance needs.
The Software Technology Architect will understand and implement Middleware technology during deployment where applicable. They must know and follow all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times. They will diligently participate in our compliance program-related activities as denoted by your supervisor or our Chief Compliance Officer. They promote and nurture the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and compliance, and actively support our compliance program-related initiatives and activities. They must consistently enforce employee compliance, including attendance at training programs, and promptly report any non-compliance to the Chief Compliance Officer, and perform other special projects and functions as assigned by the department manager.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree is required, concentration in computer science/management information systems, business or related discipline is preferred. A minimum of three years software architecture, design and development experience AND a minimum of three years in user interfaces design and development experience is required. Experience in desktop, web and mobile technologies like Net, C++, and J2EE is required. Experience in all phases of SDLC, and experience in software development planning and estimation is required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a collaborative team oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making is required. Demonstrated ability to direct cross-functional teams, demonstrated ability to analyze results and recommend a course of action, and excellent communication skills both oral and written are required. The ability to rapidly conceptualize new designs impacting multiple platforms, and iterate through multiple versions is required. This position requires approximately 10% domestic travel.
