Global Surgery Group’s Global Business Insights Center of Excellence, a member of Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recuirting for a Senior Director, Business Insights located in Somerville, NJ (preferred) or Cincinnati, OH.
The Global Surgery Group is comprised of the following businesses within Johnson & Johnson: Ethicon Surgical Care, Ethicon Energy, Ethicon Biosurgery, Acclarent, Biosense Webster, Cordis, Mentor and Sterilmed. With annual sales of $11 billion, the Global Surgery Group is the world’s largest, most innovative surgical company. The Senior Director, Business Insightsis responsible for leading and directing the Insights and Analytics Function within the Johnson and Johnson Global Surgery Group’s Global Business Insights Center of Excellence team (GBI). This role will directly support the US Region for the Ethicon Commercial Business. Position will serve as key representative on various US Commercial Teams (including US Marketing VP staff) and will have primary responsibility for integrating multiple data sources and insights across the US organization. Role will be the key contact for US Marketing leadership, as well as a connection point with other key analytics roles across the Global Surgery Group. Role will require a high degree of business acumen and understanding, and must be able to activate a team to support for learning and insight needs across the US business. This role will also require an individual who is strong in collaboration and interdependent partnering. Other key stakeholders include Sales Planning and Operations, Sales, Strategic Account Management, Channel Analytics, and Finance organizations. Position will have responsibility for prioritizing all the projects and activities required to drive success of the US Region. Role will also serve on the Global Business Insights leadership team.
The US Ethicon business represents approximately $3 billion in US sales currently and comprises approximately ¼ of the current Global Surgery Group sales. The business is expected to experience solid growth over the next 5 to 7 years. The company represents key platforms such as Wound Closure (sutures and topical skin adhesives), Hernia Repair, Women’s Health and Urology, Minimally Invasive Surgical solutions and Obesity solution, Energy and Biosurgery platforms.
As part of the GBI Leadership Team, provide a clear vision, mission, scope, and process for the GBI organization. Translation of GBI mission and capabilities to the US Commercial team. Specific responsibilities include direct and indirect reports working across primary and secondary market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence and sales analytics. Additionally this leader must partner with other key analytics functions across the organization (and their respective data sources) to provide a state of the business across multiple platforms. Role will work to partner with the Global Business Unit Insights Teams to ensure that Global strategy is being followed/integrated into sales and marketing efforts. Proven track record of performance that demonstrates strong leadership and ability to create a high performance global business insights team. Strong results orientation while leading through others. Demonstrate an ability to influence multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure an impactful level of team involvement in key business discussions. Role will lead Insight Team in: Flawless execution of all projects and activities is required to drive success of the business and commercial pipeline transition. Proactively providing fact based insights and analytics programs to address strategic business needs. Developing and implementing new innovative insights and business analytics tools and techniques and processes. Manage through others to acquire data or insights across the business to provide a succinct overview for key leaders. Serve as key strategic partner to US Commercial leadership (Marketing is key partner). Ensure that new products and programs are customer-centric and set up for high impact. Serve as objective steward of the Business. Lead education and dissemination of integrated knowledge estate and market information for key business partners/leaders. This role will have active participation and engagement on Global Business Insights Leadership Team. Leverage experiences to integrate novel/innovative methods for the business as it relates to the development and execution of strategic insights.
Qualifications
A BS or BA in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics, or related field is required. MBA or MS is preferred. A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in strategic insights, market research, business analytics, forecasting, finance or a related field is required. Experience in the medical device, hospital specialty, or healthcare field is strongly preferred. Ability to positively inspire and motivate a team is required. Proven track record of managing in a matrixed environment where a high degree of collaboration and influence is needed is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing people (larger team management experience preferred) is required. Excellent proven leadership, collaboration, communication and analytical skills are required. Ability to lead cross-functional teams, sometimes requiring managing and leading without authority as needed (strong influencing skills) is required. Ability to understand, translate and integrate multiple data sources into actionable insights to drive decision-making is required. Working knowledge of industry primary market research tools and techniques, secondary data (Market and Share), competitive intelligence data, and forecasting is required. Ability to work in a dynamic environment is required. Experience leading an organization through change is required. Recent experience in innovating customer insights (market Research) and business analytics is required. Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and team partnership is required. Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required. Strong project management skills in a deadline-oriented environment are required. Proficiency in Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint, and basic knowledge of analytical tools (e.g. SPSS or SAS) required. This role requires up to 40% domestic and 5% internationally travel.
