Job Title: MANAGER, PRODUCT COMMUNICATION

Reports to: Director, Communication & Public Affairs

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director Communication & Public Affairs, Manager, Product Communication, is responsible for the development and implementation of key projects associated with the integrated communication / public relations programs to support and advance Janssen Asia Pacific and its brands’ business objectives. Responsibilities include providing communication counsel to support and amplify the business, public relations / communication activities for pipeline compounds, launch brands and promoted products, related organizational communication and issues / crisis management.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Employ proactive product public relations to drive growth of key Immunology, Oncology and Neuroscience business unit brands, as well as manage their issues
- Develop and implement communication strategies/programs/tactics for key Immunology, Oncology and Neuroscience brands that dovetail with brand business objectives and strategic imperatives; includes media analyses and outcomes metrics to measure business impact of public relations initiatives
- Manage public relations agencies supporting these brands
- Develop and oversee assigned public relations budgets
- Align regional public relations plans with global plans and strategies where appropriate, and foster best practice sharing between markets and with the Immunology, Neuroscience and Oncology TA Communication teams
- Participate as an active member of brand teams; leverage relationships with key Brand agency contacts (e.g., advertising, digital, etc.) with an integrated marketing mindset
- Develop relationships with key media
- Build relationships with and act as liaison to key third-party influencers, key advocacy organizations and external constituencies for public relations and public affairs activities
- Identify potential brand / franchise-related issues and develop proactive issues-management strategies. Includes liaising with appropriate internal stakeholders, including Public Affairs re: regional policy and public affairs issues and/or Corporate Communication for Enterprise impact
- Develop messages with oversight from Immunology & Oncology leads to execute materials development and communication cascades
- Manage and maintain Asia Pacific Portal product sites
- Organizational communication programming as related to product communication, disease awareness driving toward employee engagement and inclusion at all levels to instill pride in the organization about our Immunology, Neuroscience & Oncology businesses/leadership

Other responsibilities:
- Budget management
- Management of assigned agency(ies)
- Management of consultants / preceptors / interns as needed

Qualifications


Experience Desired:
- Multiple year experience managing health care public relations programs in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency
- Experience dealing with national and local lay, trade and social media as well as professional / trade and third-party advocacy organizations
- Experience of working in Asia Pacific

Experience& Qualifications Required:
- Proven performer with direct health care / pharmaceutical / product experience preferred; relevant therapeutic area experience a plus
- Proven track record of successful public relations / communication, corporate communication, product approval and launch communication support and / or media relations achievements
- Must have a keen understanding of media, emerging storylines, ability to mine the landscape for creative ways to leverage relevant news pegs to the benefit of the business, franchise or brand
- Firm grasp of social, digital and interactive media; has creative solutions for applying and integrating such strategies into programming and organizational communication
- Ability to develop successful working relationships with cross-functional colleagues and senior executives
- Has experience – and has had success – in developing results-generating initiatives which are fresh, creative and exciting – internally and externally
- Is able to manage multiple projects; self-starter who is able to prioritize and consistently execute with excellence
- Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business or related discipline (communication or journalism a plus)

This position is based in Asia Pacific.

Additional Requirements:
- Some regional travel around 15-20%
