The know-how on our campus - one of the leading R&D centers in the Janssen group - is also continually growing. Not just through internal sharing of knowledge, but also through synergies and partnerships. Worldwide, Janssen R&D focuses on five domains: neuroscience, cardiovascular diseases and metabolism, infectious diseases, immunology and oncology. Within these areas, the focus is on the research and development of vaccines and small and large molecules. Our campus is the largest R&D centre for small molecules within the entire Janssen group.
The department is responsible for end-to-end drug product development for large and small molecules including:
- Formulation development activities for oral and parenteral administration for early, mid and late stage molecules
- Process development activities for oral and parenteral formulations
- Formulation and process transfer activities to pilot and manufacturing plants
- Life cycle management and support of operations at pilot and manufacturing plants.
- Development of liquid formulation technologies to enhance patient compliance such as pediatric formulations and injectable sustained delivery systems
Your responsibilities
Our senior or principal scientists will play a key role and lead the development of oral solution and suspension formulations and processes for assigned small molecules and peptides. The position will require hands-on laboratory work, project responsibility and oversight of development activities at external parties. Extensive experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization developing enabling liquid formulations for poorly soluble compounds is essential. Qualified applicants have an extensive experience in oral formulation development, have shown excellence in development of pediatric/geriatric drug products and have a strong excipient knowledge. The candidate has a proven track record in guiding junior scientists in development activities and report writing. A background in formulation development of parenteral, nasal and ophthalmic product is beneficial. The candidate will provide technical support to regulatory submissions of new and existing drugs. The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with partner groups in DPD, analytical development, Drug safety sciences and manufacturing areas. He/she will have abilities to work in a matrix environment. In addition, the successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal, project management and problem solving skills.
Qualifications
We are looking for
....highly qualified people with:
- A PhD degree in Biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, Biological, physical or pharmaceutical sciences, Industrial Pharmacy or a related field.
- At least 10 years experience is required in academia and industry.
- Demonstrated competency and experience in drug product development within the pharmaceutical industry is required.
- Drug Product Development experience that spans early through late phase.
- Background in formulation or process development of oral solutions and suspensions is required, and knowledge of aseptic processing.
- Excellent communication skills: good oral, written (extensive experience in writing of scientific reports and filing documentation) and presentation skills are essential.
- Good knowledge of English.
- Willingness to learn Dutch is essential.
- A strong drive to success together with your team
- The mindset of an entrepreneur, strong willingness to learn and proven ability to create solutions (thinking out of the box).
