The Senior Manager of Operations is responsible for day-to-day operations - ensuring the availability, health, and integrity of the SaaS production systems. This person is responsible for developing, managing, monitoring, and evolving W&P’s Operations function to ensure technical and operational success. This Senior Manager must be able to manage the remediation of urgent customer-impacting production issues as they arise, while at the same time manage projects to improve operational quality and effectiveness. This function demands a heavy emphasis on data and processes. Strong skills in leadership, collaboration, communication, and technology are required.
Responsibilities
Team management
Lead a team of Project Managers, Business Analysts, Process Engineers, Software Developers, Database Engineers, and System Administrators that support the production systems
Production issue remediation
Manage and remediate production issues on a 24x7 basis
Operational excellence
Data
Ensure the integrity and completeness of all system transactions - including the data flows into and out of the system for partners, customers, and end users
Processes
Manage, document, and enhance both automated and manual operational processes
Move the organization toward automated processes, when appropriate
Continuous improvement
Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the operational systems, processes, and personnel
Culture
Build a culture of customer satisfaction based on operational excellence, big picture understanding, continuous improvement, and proactive thinking
Metrics/monitoring
Build, maintain, and enhance systems to proactively identify issues or patterns that indicate warning signs of a potential issue
Generate and present system metrics and reports, including those involving SLAs.
Collaboration
Work closely with other departments to assure that the Voice of Operations is appropriately represented in product strategy and implementation strategy
Work closely with compliance and partner managers, as appropriate
Communication
Report dashboard level metrics to organization on a regular basis
Report measureable operational achievements
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or information technology
8 years of technology leadership experience – people management
10+ years of relevant technical experience working in large scale production operations, preferably with internet based web delivery companies (SaaS or other models)
Operations experience in a customer production environment
Demonstrated track record of developing stable, reliable environments that ensure performance and customer satisfaction
Demonstrated track record of developing and evolving the use of process engineering techniques within an organization
A deep understanding of relational database systems
Ability to effectively prioritize your team's workload and shift attention with changing priorities
Experience working directly with customers
Desired Qualifications
Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, or Capability Maturity Model certification
Project Management Certification
MIS / CIS / CS / Engineering degree
Experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry
