Ethicon, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is currently recruiting for a Business Unit Manager, located in San Angelo, TX.
The Business Unit Manager will manage a Manufacturing Business Unit and participate in the day-to-day operations with responsibilities for producing products at minimum costs consistent with quality specifications and production schedules. This individual will develop and participate in strategic decisions of the plant, division and company.
The Business Unit Manager will understand and implement Ethicon Quality policy and Quality system including, Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA), Non-Conformance Request (NCR) and change management/document control. Provide a leadership role in the development and implementation of Process Excellence and Six Sigma standards. Identify needs and coordinate the development of support systems (i.e. MIS, Documentation, Quality Assurance Systems). Ensure sufficient manufacturing materials, equipment and personnel. Develop all capital expense forecasts and budgets to support business needs. Provide variance analysis and corrective actions. Form alliances with Marketing and Sales to provide improved products and response to customer needs. Enforce, promote and observe all safety, industrial hygiene rules and regulations established by the Company. Manage a customer driven quality plant that ensures regulatory compliance to ISO and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
The Business Unit Manager will be responsible for all salary administration issues and all personnel related matters. Review and recommend change to current policies and procedures for applicability to present business plans. Provide and establish leadership climate for operations within business unit towards continue quality improvements and compliance with regulatory requirements as they apply to all business aspects. Make decisions based on understanding of multiple departments and their interrelationships. Foster relations with all applicable development group/effort to actively influence design and assembly criteria. Manage operation to ensure achievement of Capital Improvement Project (CIP) and Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) initiatives. Provide leadership to meet the challenges of Diversity to move the process forward. Manage, motivate and develop their team to achieve their full potential. This individual will be responsible for developing and guiding all associates within their organization, including hourly associates and 10 to 20 supervisors.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Science discipline is required. Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a management/supervisory role is required. Medical Device industry experience is preferred. Experience working in a FDA regulated environment is required. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ISO and/or other regulatory requirements required. Experience with financial/business planning preferred. Project management experience is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Knowledge of Quality Systems (CAPA, NCR) preferred. Knowledge of manufacturing shop floor and related computer systems (i.e. JD Edwards (JDE), SAP) preferred. Knowledge of Process Excellence tools (Lean, Six Sigma) preferred. Process Excellence/Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) Certification is preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills. Must have strong leadership and negotiating skills. Must have the ability to function in a team based manufacturing environment. The ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and influence decision-making across a matrix organization is required. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. This position will require up to 20% domestic and international travel.
