A. Responsible for preparing sound translated scientific/clinical documents in assigned areas under minimal supervision using established templates and guidelines.
B. Specific duties:
1. Translates basic and complex clinical documents with increasing independence.
a. Translated documents must be of high quality in terms of scientific content, as well as organization per regulatory and internal guidances, clarity, and accuracy, with attention to format and consistency.
b. Translated documents must be prepared within established timelines and in accordance with internal processes.
2. Takes a proactive or lead role on translation activities in terms of content and engages in scientific collaboration.
3. Works collaboratively in a team environment, and takes a proactive role on multiple assigned projects with respect to timing, scheduling, tracking, and regulatory strategy as appropriate.
C. Judgment (decision-making):
Decision-making includes: recognizing how to best interpret and coordinate statistical and medical interpretation of data into the appropriate organization and document structure to ensure quality and accuracy of content, under very minimal supervision.
D. Initiative:
Works as a member of a team under very minimal direction and is responsible for organizing own time in an optimal fashion. Proactive in identifying opportunities for greater productivity and participates in finding flexible solutions.
E. Contact with others (interdependent partnering):
Interacts in a manner that facilitates teamwork and productivity. Takes an active role (with demonstrated ability to take on a lead role) on assigned projects with respect to planning of content, format, and timing of documents, as well as report scheduling, tracking, as appropriate. Interacts with and may coordinate/supervise freelancers or external service providers as needed. Can mentor/manage junior translators or other peers.
Qualifications
- Masters or above majoring in English, Medical English, biology, medicine, pharmacy or other related areas.
- At least 3 years’ dedicated medical translation/ medical writing experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
- Excellent English and Chinese writing.
- Experience to interact with alliance partners as Point of Contact is a plus.
- People management and project management experience may be a key plus.
