JOB TITLE: ENGINEERINGING TEAM LEADER
DEPARTMENT: ENGINEERING
REPORTS TO: ENGINEERING LEADER
STRATEGIC SUPPORT TO: Engineering Team Supporting Value Streams
ORGANISATIONAL INTERFACES:

SUMMARY OF JOB:
The purpose of this role is to lead process engineering functions within the plant, thereby creating a state-of-the-art automated manufacturing plant at DePuy (Ireland) Limited using best practice technologies and latest / breakthrough technologies.
Also team responsibility for specific projects within a determined product group, for the support of products under development, introduction to manufacturing, or ongoing support as required.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Organisational & Talent Development
1.1. Drive and co-ordinate Process Improvement/automation activity.
1.2. Support Annual Business Planning Process
1.3. Ensure effective closure on Corrective Action Requests.
1.4. Co-ordinate the management, motivation and development of staff in a manner that will facilitate high performance in line with J & J Standards of leadership
1.5. Demonstrate strong leadership and a clear identifiable work ethos within the manufacturing engineering team.
1.6. Identify training needs of staff and opportunities /assignments for development to maximize their potential.
1.7. Support the completion of performance appraisals and mid-year reviews in a timely manner
1.8. Ensure ER issues are managed in a fair and reasonable manner in line with company policies, Credo values and Standards of leadership, keeping members of the Management Lead Team informed of issues and concerns in a timely manner.
1.9. Develop both team and individual goals and objectives and measure actual performance against them, providing timely and honest feedback on performance even in difficult situations.
1.10. Create opportunities to reward and recognize success of teams and individuals
2. Project Management role for transfer projects for the site
2.1. Responsible for the Project Management of the introduction of new products and/or processes to the facility.
2.2. Ensure that NPI & Product Transfer (PT) projects are run cost efficiently and deliver manufacturability and reliable products for the site
2.3. Identify capital spend and budget requirements for process development and improvement, systems & new products
2.4. Provide timely and accurate central reporting on project activities
2.5. Implementation of safety/environmental requirements on purchase of all new equipment. Also has responsibility for energy and water consumption and packaging waste generation
2.6. Development and growth of Development capabilities to support future growth
3. Engineering Tooling and Fixturing Management
3.1. Co-ordinate the design for manufacture of any tooling/fixturing required for production.
3.2. Co-ordinate tooling & fixturing cost reduction for the site
4. Customer & Marketplace focus
4.1. Instill and maintain a sense of urgency and customer focus within the manufacturing engineering team.
4.2. Prioritize projects / tasks in line with Customer service requirements & strategy Engineering objectives.
4.3. Act as voice of the customer.
5. Business Results
5.1. Implement Company Business Plan Objectives & strive to exceed Business results.
5.2. Reduce cost of manufacture on a year-by-year basis.
5.3. Responsible for championing strategic Engineering objectives.
5.4. Champion HSE within the manufacturing engineering team.
5.5. Promote a quality-focused culture within the manufacturing engineering team, ensuring adherence to cGMP’s and Quality Systems as defined in the Quality Manual.
5.6. Create and ratify standard times as appropriate.

6.1. Responsible for implementation of innovative solutions/technologies to deliver lower costs and shorter lead times.
6.2. Look for breakthrough technologies to reduce manufacturing cost or lead-time.

7.2. Create and maintain equipment / process capacity models.
7.3. Responsible for the management and justification of capital investment requirements inline with business growth.
7.4. Successfully integrate new products into existing manufacturing processes ensuring good performance metrics and capacity planning.
8. Collaboration & Teamworking
8.1. Work with the Engineering Function to develop and implement strategic Engineering Goals & Objectives
8.2. Work with Engineering Leader to ensure consistency within the engineering function at a plant wide level.
8.3. Lead or actively participate in cross-functional teams to ensure New Product Introduction/Research and Development projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential
1. Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering or equivalent and 4 years postgraduate experience in a healthcare/aerospace environment.
2. Successful track record in people leadership in a manufacturing engineering environment
3. Knowledge & experience of CNC machining
Desirable
1. Previous project management expertise on developing and implementing processes for new product introduction.
2. Experience of the design for manufacture of fixtures and tooling
3. Knowledge of ISO Design & Drafting Standards within a design & manufacturing environment
4. Qualification in Project management
