The Global Marketing Leader (GML) Rheumatology and Gastroenterology will lead and execute the Global commercial strategy, provide commercial input into the Disease Area Stronghold strategies and assist the global markets with commercialization and launch plans. The GML will lead cross-functional and highly matrixed teams consisting of Drug Development, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Alliance Management, Operating Companies and GCSO (Strategic Marketing, Market Research, Global Strategic Analytics, and Health Economics & Pricing) to develop and execute the global strategies. The GML will partner with the regions to incorporate J&J Marketing Excellence (Mx) into all aspects of the global and regional commercial strategy; provide commercial leadership and guidance into the global regulatory and clinical development plans throughout the lifecycle of the compounds; and provide functional leadership to the Compound Development Team (CDT), championing the commercial strategy.
The position involves collaboration with strategic partners (Merck in Europe, Mitsubishi Tanabe/JPKK in Japan) to optimize the impact of global strategies. The GML is expected to provide proactive partnership with R&D to provide input into clinical study development, product development decisions, and labeling that supports the commercial launch strategy and lifecycle management investments. Also provide strategic guidance to the continuation of the DAS strategies for both RA and IBD. Drive development and implementation of key components of commercial strategy, including branding, public relations, publication strategy, market access/reimbursement strategies, and other competitive programs. In collaboration with GMA (Global Market Access) ensure the co-positioning of the portfolio supports and builds a robust and highly differentiated value proposition based on clinical, patient-reported and economic outcomes information. Partner with Market Research team to develop and deliver the customer and market insights required for superior marketing strategy. Develop and share across the GCT and CDTs a deep understanding of the market, both current and long-term. Lead the development of forecasts and full asset valuation in collaboration with the Global Strategic Analytics team. Progress critical commercial strategy decisions throughout appropriate governance committees. Select, develop, and retain superior quality people.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. An advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD, etc.) in business or life sciences is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive marketing experience is required with a proven track record of exceptional team & cross-functional leadership. Pharmaceutical industry experience is highly preferred. Experience with immunology (and leading a launch of those products) is also preferred. People management experience is preferred. Experience with R&D programs and the development of medical strategy is preferred. This position may require up to 25-30% travel.
