The Senior Customs Analyst, International Trade and Transportation Compliance, is responsible for managing associated Compliance risks for import and export shipments across J&J businesses. This role provides expert guidance and training to Operating Company partners on logistics processes and procedures to comply with US Customs and Border Protection, FDA, DOT and other regulatory compliance agencies’ governing the movement of commercial goods across international borders globally. This individual is responsible for leading internal control audits and US Customs and Border Protection Focused Assessment audits and maintaining the procedures established with J&J’s third party Customs Brokers and freight forwarders affecting import and export clearance on behalf of J&J companies.

The Senior Customs Analyst will respond to transactional inquiries from J&J third party customs brokers for products which require additional information to be cleared for importation into the US. This individual will work with Importer of Record and Customs legal counsel to determine classification of products and ensure proper payment of duty. This individual will maintain the product repository used by Customs Brokers to communicate product information to government agencies. In addition, the Senior Customs Analyst will serve as liaison between Customs Broker and Regulatory Affairs to resolve FDA Holds until issue resolution.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of relevant professional experience OR a minimum of a High School diploma plus 6 years of relevant professional experience is required. A focused degree in International Business, Supply Chain Logistics, Transportation, Chemical or Biological Sciences is preferred. Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools, Training and/or Certification is preferred. Project management experience is strongly preferred. Licensed US Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist is preferred. It is preferred that this candidate have thorough knowledge of Duty Drawbacks. Experience with C-TPAT is preferred. MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.

This candidate must have the ability to effectively present information in clear and concise manner and be able to respond to dynamic regulatory changes and drive cross-functional process development. A demonstrated ability to work in team environment with focus on internal and external relationship development is required. The ability to read, write, assess and interpret documents (Standard Operating Procedures, Compliance manuals) is required. The ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple priorities is a must. The ability to embrace learning regulatory requirements, lead audit teams and hold stakeholders accountable is required.

This position is based in Skillman, NJ and may require up to 10% travel within North America.
