Primary Role Summary:
As a member of the JJI Canadian Leadership Team, this role provides key insight & strategic leadership to the business in all matters that relate to or consider external communications, regulatory influence and government affairs. The leader in this role will develop and implement strategic plans to enhance and protect JJI's reputation with key stakeholders including consumers, communities, key opinion leaders and influencers to ensure the future success of the business.
Overall accountability for:
Developing and managing relationships and communication approach with Government, Regulatory influencers and Advocacy groups to positively shape the healthcare environment, policies and communications.
Ensuring proactive business and brand communications across a broad portfolio of products in various business units.
Developing programs and approaches to successfully position our businesses for success in Market Access, Formularies and with Third Party Payers, as appropriate.
Representing the company's interests and working with Industry Associations.
Building, developing & leading a diverse and high performing team of professionals
Major Responsibilities:
Partner with Leadership team, team members and brand teams to develop and implement strategically aligned Public Relations plans aimed at promoting J&J Consumer products and enhancing organization reputation.
Anticipate market events & public policies and issues that may positively or negatively impact equity or reputation, developing pro-active plans to leverage opportunity or mitigate risk
Develop, nurture and leverage key opinion leader network to influence policy makers in matters of access, pricing and regulatory.
Formulate major external environmental and sustainability trends linked to health policies.
Create and champion a strong and engaged team aligned to Our Credo and our Leadership Imperatives, that enhances our workplace setting. Create an environment that supports and encourages colleagues to leverage their potential.
Proactively liaise and maintain strong links with Marketing, Sales & Regulatory Affairs
Actively participate and lead, as appropriate, as a member of the Canadian Government Affairs Counsel.
Qualifications
Education:
Undergraduate degree in science, commerce, journalism or political science is required; An MBA would be an asset.
Formal training in media management is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a business setting managing media relations and government relations.
Prior Consumer Healthcare or pharmaceutical work experience.
Successful experience actively participating on boards and in stakeholder associations, ideally in the consumer healthcare arena.
Skills/Competencies/Behaviors:
Bilingualism - verbal and written in English and French is required.
A proven record of demonstrating strategic, innovative and creative thinking resulting in tangible business outcomes
Sound business acumen and understanding of the healthcare, political and media environment.
Demonstrated strength in working with key cross-functional partners, internally and externally, and cultivating strategic partnerships to support business
Well-demonstrated negotiation skills with the capacity to develop and leverage collaborative and aligned networks
Proven track record in organization and talent management, with demonstrated success in building and managing diverse teams
