Department: Global Consumer Procurement

Location: Zug, Switzerland (EMEA)
Reports to (Title): Director, Procurement Excellence

POSITION SUMMARY

J&J Consumer is a leading manufacturer of FMCG and OTC Products with sales of approx. $15.0 Billion. Global Consumer SC Procurement optimizes spend of $4.5B across direct materials and external manufacturing. The PEX team is a group of seasoned professionals and managers with strong functional and/or enabling competencies in strategic procurement. This team delivers expertise and supports to J&J Consumer’s Global SC procurement team across the following areas:

- Sourcing Strategies and Strategic Plans (operational and organizational)
- Category Cost, Performance Management and Business Analytics
- Procurement Fundamentals (Supplier & Contract Management)
- Risk Management
- Technology Enablement (databases and spend management platforms)
- Global programs (e.g Quantum Leap) with functional expertise (task force), technology platforms and expert analytics resources

The PEX COE Lead, Capabilities and Infrastructure will lead resources supporting Global Category Programs (e.g Quantum Leap) using Consumer SC Procurement’s MEP (Market Engagement Process) methodology; across the following areas:

- Data management (consolidation, structuring, application in eSourcing)
- eSourcing & optimization platforms (platform expertise, administration, operations, platform development)
- Analytics (platform, and resource support)

The incumbent will develop and enhance strong relationships with key stakeholders, including program Task Force, Category Leaders, MEP work-streams, finance partners, and the Consumer SC PLT. The incumbent will own all operational and support infrastructure enabling MEPs, and would be a co-custodian of the MEP process. The incumbent will collaborate internally (partners & stakeholders) and externally (business intelligence providers, networks and suppliers), and will have:

- Strong knowledge of J&J’s business, sectors and operating industries
- Professional competence in finance/IT, and working knowledge of procurement (or vice-versa)
- Project based experience, including in financial analytics (strategic / business planning, budgeting etc.)
- Strong user level skills on ERP / IT / eSourcing platforms; and market intelligence / business analytics
- Strong record of engagement and collaboration in a multinational, multi-stakeholder / matrix organization
- Preferably experience having led dispersed or virtual teams; and a record of developing people

KEY RESPONSIBILITES/TASKS (%’s are indicative)

Leadership
- Recruiting / on-boarding / training / competency development of MEP support resources
- Drive impactful collaboration between QL streams, and internal / external resources
- Influence or enable the development of technology platforms for MEP (functionalities)
- Become an SME / Leader in the area of MEP planning & execution
- Collaborate with Task Force & work-streams leaders to help plan, schedule and execute MEP

Data Management & Support
- Plan, agree and secure global resource support for MEP teams (from external providers)
- Enable consistent data collection through harmonization of required data for each project
- Ensure access for resources to relevant J&J systems for data collection & clean-up (e.g GSS)
- Collaborate with Task Force leads to make data needs consistent to decision criteria

Analytics and Business Intelligence
- Support MEP teams with structuring eSourcing events, models, bidding, and bid-analysis
- Enable customized analytics for each team; and ensure outcomes are recorded
- Using decision criteria and bids, help team structure analytics scenarios
- Support task force & teams to convert analytic insights into robust supply recommendations

Technology Enablement
- Enable appropriate & consistent access to, and compliant usage of eSourcing Platform(s); implement processes to ensure quick and effective trouble-shooting of technical issues
- Ensure training and user competency for all QL team members, leaders and task force
- Coordinate launch & monitoring of events preparation, simulations, bidding and analytics
- Own the operational relationship with the eSourcing platform provider; including accessing trainers for teams, 2nd level technical support, appropriate customizations for the platforms; within the allocated budget & funding for this activity

Other
- Support task force leaders in ensuring adherence to MEP Methodologies
- (Potentially) support PLT sponsors with managing the budgets & funding (TBC)

Travel (~as appropriate; generally not to exceed 10%, in any given year) ~25%

Qualifications


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Minimum ~10 years of relevant experience

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ROLE

- Lead & enable a team of skilled resources (including external) to support MEP objectives
- Process improvements, including the learning and innovation from the eSourcing market into JnJ processes
- Maintain the strictest standards of ethics and J&J standards of compliance
- Interface with PLT internally, and where necessary with J&J suppliers and partners
- Consult to / advise / partner with QL leads on all scoped aspects of the role.
- Drive and/or enable J&J strategic procurement competency to best-in-class globally
- Truly global mindset and understanding of different regional challenges

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- University Degree (Economics / Business / Finance / Science / Engineering)
- SME level expertise in Data Management, Analytics (e.g through finance or specialist business analytics role), with (preferably) strong working knowledge of Procurement (or vice-versa)
- Proven results leading teams, and good working knowledge of overall operations and business aspects in a Consumer oriented (B2C) business
- Strong user / professional level comfort with functional technology platforms (ERP), proficient user of MS office
- (Preferably) Project Management experience
- Experience working in an international, cross-functional and multiple stake-holder environment.
- Strong consultative and collaborative skills.
