The Manager, Human Resources will provide business based Human Resources leadership across the Global Biosurgery organization in addition to the Global Surgical Care Strategic Marketing team. The Ethicon Biosurgery business is a leading provider of products used to help control bleeding during surgical procedures or resulting from traumatic wounds. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market-leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. was created 20 years ago in Cincinnati, Ohio, developing innovative devices that have driven the revolutionary shift from open to minimally invasive surgery that continues to lead the industry today.

The Manager, Human Resources will leverage their Human Resources (HR) experience and expertise to develop and implement HR strategies that support the overall business objectives including organizational design, change management, employee relations, talent acquisition and retention strategies, employee development, succession planning, leadership & team development and communications.

The Manager, Human Resources will focus on independently diagnosing, developing and implementing broad-based strategic HR programs and processes to drive business results while partnering closely with business & functional leaders to build & grow diverse teams aligned with future business strategy and organizational capabilities. One needs to ensure the appropriate linkage exists with the HR specialty groups (e.g. Global Talent Management, Global Recruiting, ER/LR, etc.) and respective client groups, to promote consistency in HR policies/practices. Demonstrate strong leadership ability to guide or direct others through action or influence. Promote positive employee relations through design, communication and interpretation of HR policies and programs.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor Degree is required, advanced degree such as MS/MA in Human Resources, Organization Development, Organization Behavior, Organizational Psychology, Consulting Psychology, Industrial Organization Psychology, Labor Relations, MBA or similar related disciplined preferred. A minimum of 8-10 years of Human Resources experience required with a minimum of 5 years HR Business Partner or Generalist experience is required.

Previous experience understanding strategic issues impacting the business unit and company, and demonstrate the ability to utilize various methodologies to diagnose the organization for effectiveness is required; preferably across a variety of functional & commercial organizations throughout one’s career. Experience within compensation, employee relations, organizational design/development, talent management and/or recruiting is preferred. Progressive experience in various areas of Talent Management is strongly preferred. The individual should have a track record in the implementation of these processes including Performance Management, Succession and Development Planning. Experience supporting multiple business units/sectors and functions are preferred. Broad business understanding, strong organizational consulting skills and strong analytical and communication skills (oral and written) required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a firm foundation in change management and organizational design beyond just theory in order to partner effectively and creatively with a continually changing global organization required. Approximately 15% domestic travel required. Must be willing and able to work in Somerville, NJ or Cincinnati, OH.
