Scientific & Medical Affairs function of Janssen are focused on generation and dissemination of scientific data in support of advancing patient care and delivering exceptional value to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. The teams consist of Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, PhD, and Nurses that are home office or field based.
Considering industry trends, technology advancements, changing regulatory environments and the desire to be the leader in the industry, Global Medical Affairs IT (GMA IT) is focused on strategic use of technology to drive Scientific & Medical Affairs vision and priorities across regions. To ensure success and drive value to the business, GMA IT partners with various IT stakeholders including Commercial Pharma IT’s Capabilities & Services teams, Information Technology & Information Services (IT IS), and Application Services (AS), to mention only a few. Business partners of GMA IT include Medical and Scientific Affairs functions across the regions, and the role of GMA IT is multifaceted: (1) to drive strategic priorities alignment and IT capabilities roadmaps, (2) to deliver on agreed to priorities and ensure delivered application & capabilities are used as intended, (3) to enhance Medical / Scientific Affairs external data dissemination channels to HCPs, and (4) to increase internal productivity and collaboration of the Medical Affairs / Scientific Affairs associates.
Core capabilities supported by GMA IT include Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Medical Information / Call Center, content management, web/digital solutions, Medical Education functions, compliance & training tools, collaboration & productivity tools, Knowledge Management, to mention the key areas only.
With limited direction, the IT Lead, GMA IT will be directly responsible for end-to-end business relationship management, project management, and application enablement for the field based Medical Affairs with primary focus on the US Janssen Medical Affairs and HECOR Field and the Canadian Medical Sciences and Medical Education Field. The IT Lead will represent the needs of Medical Affairs Field teams as part of the iCONNECT program (CRM), work with the Field support organization to ensure proper understanding of Field needs, drive identification and delivery of new mobile capabilities, represent the needs of Medical Affairs Field as a member of the Mobility and Field Effectiveness verticals and identify and drive new, innovative ways of using technology in support of Medical Affairs Field functions including KOL management, Voice of Customer data collection, content management, and other.
In addition to US and Canada focused responsibilities, the IT Lead will also be tasked with looking at Medical Science Liaisons processes from a global perspective and will play a consultative role to EMEA, ASPAC and LATAM partners when appropriate.
Overall, IT Lead, GMA IT will be responsible for end-to-end support of Medical Affairs Field functions, with strong focus on identifying new spaces where IT can make a difference.
Additional responsibilities include: Managing strategic relationships with Medical Affairs & HECOR Field business partners by representing and promoting IT capabilities; Liaising between Business, IT IS, and Application Services to represent business processes, priorities and needs; Partnering closely with Business Enablement Teams, Capabilities Teams, and business stakeholders to deliver new Medical Affairs capabilities configured to meet the requirements of individual business units, while maintaining compliance with best practices and standards, SDLC, WICO, HCC, and Legal; Participating/driving business partners needs analysis and business risk assessment, leading business process redesign, and consulting with the customers to ensure effective use of technology; Gathering and documenting requirements from the business, assembling project scope, managing all phases of a project and deploying final solution; Ensuring project plans are defined and executed to achieve business, technical, and budgetary objectives; Influencing change management activities specific to available systems/capabilities; Participating and/or driving activities at a Commercial Pharma IT level in support of division’s employee engagement and Johnson & Johnson Credo objectives.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required. A minimum of 6 years of a strong track record in IT is required. Strong knowledge and experience in delivering medium to large IT solutions in support of Field based teams (IE Medical Affairs or Sales) is required. Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred. Demonstrated strong experience in end-to-end project management (from concept through delivery and support) using a standardized SDLC model is required. Financial management and vendor management is required. PMP certification is strongly preferred. Experience in supporting CRM solutions is required. Working knowledge of Veeva and/or SFDC (Salesforce.com) platform is strongly preferred. Experience with managing and deploying mobile solutions and capabilities to field teams is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to drive change and identification of new capabilities for business functions is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional interpersonal skills, are required. Excellent teaming and collaborating skills are required. Ability to independently run projects, manage risks and issues, and handle escalations is required. Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and operate with poise and professionalism in a complex, high-profile, and rapidly changing environment is required.
