Description

Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Operations Supervisor - 3rd shift in Memphis, TN.

Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. provides account management and customer support services to key health care customers, including hospital systems and group purchasing organizations, leading health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, and government health care institutions. The company also provides contract management, logistics and supply chain functions for the major Johnson & Johnson franchises.

This role is responsible for providing leadership to team members and the Memphis Logistics Center in support of achieving the goals and objectives of the MLC and achievement of operating company service level agreements. The Operations Supervisor performs tasks in accordance with defined standard operating procedures in a 24-hour, global distribution center supporting multiple medical device operating companies. The individual manages people, time, projects, metrics and distribution tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, while focusing on safety, quality, environmental compliance, the Credo, the operational budget, and the operational calendar. This person will be responsible for driving continuous improvements in and outside of his/her area of responsibility. Exhibit strong skills to analyze and solve problems; support PE projects.

The Operations Supervisor will be assigned to concentrate on a particular function or business, but will be expected, at times, to work across multiple areas and potentially on different shifts in support of the total organizational business goals. The individual will have a strong working knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and will follow the procedures in performing the duties of the job. The individual will be responsible for analysis and assigned projects, working with internal and external business partners.

The individual will direct a team of 15-25 employees, providing instructions on day-to-day tasks and managing performance, through coaching, constructive feedback, performance reviews and development planning. Employees will be a combination of exempt, non-exempt, regular and temporary employees.

The individual must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in each of the Global Leadership Profiles at an individual level and strong proficiency at a leadership level. Day-to-Day Operations Activities: (completed in accordance with defined processes, policies and legal compliance activities; i.e., SOX) include: providing leadership to team members and the Memphis Logistics Center in support of achieving the goals and objectives of the MLC and achievement of operating company service level agreements, while managing within the operational budget.

Assign shift work ensure, smooth shift overlap and transition. Balance operational priorities across end to end process and cross franchise view from replenishment to shipment. Oversee housekeeping, safety and quality Complete analysis for effective labor management. Determine and decide picking strategies and priorities.

Organization and People Development, activities include:

Provide guidance, direction, development planning, and performance feedback on a regular basis to all team members, in accordance with JJHCS Career Management Process, to ensure effective and productive work teams. Complete all assigned training and facilitate training for direct reports.

Process Improvement and Projects: activities, to include: address customer complaints with robust root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action plan, proactive research of environment for trends in voice of customer for broader planning, proactively assess performance of assigned area, identify failures and root causes and make improvements, participate in and lead programs to ensure efficient and cost effective operation and utilization of the facility, lead and/or participate in departmental/divisional projects as assigned. Regularly communicate in all directions to keep associates, peers, and Management informed of project status, process changes, and opportunities.

Implement plans to ensure safety, quality and environmental compliance:

Conduct investigations and implement actions associated with Quality System findings (NCs, CAPAs, etc.). Identify EHS opportunities and implement safety solutions in conjunction with Safety Engineer. Completes all other tasks/projects as assigned by Management.

Qualifications


A Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in Business, Logistics, or other related field is preferred. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in distribution, operations, Supply Chain and/or logistics, and people management required. Two or more years of Project Management and Process Improvement experience is preferred. Experience leading, managing and/or coaching others is required. Experience working in a GMP environment is preferred. Healthcare industry experience is preferred. LEAN/Process Excellence (Green belt/black belt) or Project Management experience with demonstrated business results is preferred. Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems is preferred. Knowledge of SOX requirements are preferred.

This candidate will possess strong leadership skills, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong analytic and quantitative skills and demonstrated change leadership skills. Strong collaboration, influencing and problem-solving skills – team member, ability to contribute positively to the morale of the team; ability to collaborate/influence with J&J Operating Companies and Suppliers. Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints and manage complexity. Demonstrated sense of urgency; motivated by the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment and doing stimulating work; exercises calm, sound, constructive judgment during high demanding situations. Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts in a constructive way by addressing the needs of all parties, eventually bringing about a conclusive outcome. Results-oriented. Qualified candidates should be able to operate and/or be trained and certified to operate a forklift or other equipment as needed.

Physical Demands:

The work environment is a warehouse setting at a Logistics Center. The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Ability to proficiently utilize a Computer and fax machine, ability to communicate effectively via Telephone, ability to stand and/or walk on concrete floors 40% of the time is required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is also required. He/she will have the ability to safely operate machinery and devices, according to procedures, which requires reading small and large print, and may require reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, turning, lifting. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment at 2 to 8 C (35 to 46 F) for 2 hours or more at a time, as well as ability to work in a freezer environment at (-25°C).

This job is located in Memphis, TN and may require 10% travel of the time (domestic).
