Ethicon, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is currently recruiting for a Laser Needlemaker (3rd shift), located in Cornelia, GA

The Laser Needlemaker (3rd shift) will set-up and operate Lasers to drill surgical needles of various sizes and types to exacting quality standards and close tolerances. Perform routine process troubleshooting and work with Process Owners to solve complex problems. Use and maintain measurement and inspection devices including microscopes, optical comparators, dial indicators, scales, and micrometers. Perform Preventative Maintenance procedures on equipment per the schedule. Complete tooling set-up and changes as required.

The Laser Needlemaker (3rd shift) will also utilize CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) system for data entry and monitoring of the process. Utilize the MRP system for tracking product. Laser drill and disposition needles in accordance with published finished needles quality standards. Basic Tooling changes, set-up, and inventory. Quality and production standards certification. Complete process set-up, changeover, run, and clean-up. Utilize CIM (computer) to record and monitor the process. Perform PM schedule daily.

The Laser Needlemaker (3rd shift) will also perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/facilitator. Follow current compliance regulations and standards. Comply with all federal regulated programs. Support Plant Diversity Process. Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department. Support ETHICON Production System (EPS) by identifying, evaluating and resolving problems. Understand and adhere to ETHICON Production System (EPS) Principles and Rules.

Qualifications


High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent skills, experience, or training is required. Basic computer and database management skills required. Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills required. Statistical and analytical problem solving skills required. Completion of one year vocational, military, or equivalent technical training/experience; including basic electrical/electronics, mechanics, and math such as decimals, percentages, fractions, and tolerances is preferred. Basic understanding of statistical process control is preferred. Set-up, operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment required. Experience in mechanics is preferred. Accurate record keeping required. Working knowledge of basic hand tools and shop math is required. Previous CNC (computer numerical control) and/or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) machining experience PREFERED. Previous laser experience preferred. Previous needle experience preferred. Previous electrical experience preferred. Basic understanding of engineering drawings preferred. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds with assistance or mechanically aided is required. Walking/kneeling/standing approximately 40% of the time is required. Must be able to work 3rd shift (12:00 am - 8:00 am). The ability to work occasional overtime and some holidays is required.
