Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C. develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurological disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.
This position will support an exciting new compound in neuroscience for treatment of depression with ‘Breakthrough Therapy Designation’ by the FDA.
This position is responsible for preparing sound scientific/regulatory documents with minimal supervision using established templates and guidelines. This position works as a member of a team under minimal direction. This position reports to a manager, associate director, director, or senior director. This position has no direct reports and is an individual contributor. The Senior Medial Writing Specialist may provide guidance to contractors.
Prepares and finalizes basic and complex clinical documents under minimal supervision.
Prepares documents of high quality in terms of scientific content, and accuracy, with attention to format and consistency as well as organization per applicable external and internal guidances, clarity, and accuracy, with attention to format and consistency.
Prepares documents within established timelines and in accordance with internal processes. Prepares documents that adhere to regulatory guidelines, or journal/authorship requirements and ethical publishing standards, as applicable; internal guidelines, styles; and electronic standards and guidelines. Engages in scientific collaboration with clinical and other functional areas to ensure integrity of documentation. Provides a significant contribution for projects of low-medium complexity. Takes an increasingly active or lead role on assigned projects with respect to planning of content, format, scheduling, and tracking as appropriate.
Qualifications
A PhD or equivalent in one of the sciences with 3 years of relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience is required, or an MS or other advanced degree with 4 years relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience. A BS degree may be considered with 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related industry; Experience in one of the sciences; Experience with applicable word processing software; Experience working in teams is required. Experience working with contractors; Project management experience; Experience using AMA Guidelines; Experience with the medical writing document standards and processes is preferred. This position requires in-depth scientific/medical writing skills including the demonstrated ability to interpret and organize scientific data. Knowledge of guidelines used for the preparation of medical writing documents is preferred.
