This position supports various R&D Operations groups and can be based in Raritan, Titusville or Springhouse, with travel to other NJ/PA JRD offices when required.

R&D Operations is responsible for the execution and delivery of Phase I-IV clinical studies worldwide. The Senior Financial Analyst will provide financial and strategic leadership to multiple business groups such as: Quantitative Sciences, Integrated Data Services, Quality & Compliance, Strategy & Operations, R&D Operations Management, and Contracts & Grants. Key activities for this position include, but are not limited to, Budgeting, Forecasting, Quarterly Close Processes, and Strategic Projects. The Senior would also be a member of the Senior Leadership Teams of the respective groups.

This role will be responsible for reporting and analytical support of actual vs. forecast for the respective business groups and provide financial information and insights to the respective leadership teams. Lead the quarterly close process and latest estimates. Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team members within respective groups to develop forecasts of functional budgets, headcount and capital investments. Drive responsible and prioritized investment behavior. Update the annual activity based costing model required for the costing of studies executed by the different Therapeutic areas. Perform analysis of actual costs versus forecasted activity based costs and explain variances to the Therapeutic areas. Drive process efficiencies across R&D Operations and develop metrics to measure these efficiencies. Ownership of processes such as hedging and time reporting to guide business partners in accurate reporting. Balance functional priorities such as building new capabilities and maintaining ongoing business to manage critical trade-off conversations with business partners. Lead & participate in ad hoc (strategic) projects, process improvement initiatives and special requests, such as savings calculations for JEDI (Janssen Excellence in Development Initiative) through application of new tools such as Adaptive Design, Analytical Risk Based Monitoring and SOP Simplification. Ensure that the principles and elements of the Credo, J&J Business policies, Healthcare Compliance, Regulatory, GAAP, and Sarbanes Oxley are adhered to in all aspects of job responsibilities.

Qualifications


A minimum of a bachelors degree is required preferably a major in Accounting or Finance. A MBA is preferred. A CPA, CMA, or other financial certifications are preferred. A minimum of three years Finance/Accounting or related business experience is required. Experience in the pharmaceutical or similar industry is preferred. Candidate must possess excellent analytical (MS Excel), conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to think creatively and work in a team environment is required. Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The ability to effectively take on leadership roles in various functions is required.
