The LifeScan EMEA organisation within the Johnson & Johnson family of companies is engaged in the manufacturing, global distribution and marketing of blood glucose monitoring systems for diabetic patients.

The key challenge and opportunity in this role is to turn around a business which has experienced a number of external and internal challenges in the last couple of years. Whilst the basics are now in place, it will be important to work with cross functional teams to implement the plan for 2015 and continue to shape the rapidly changing environment and the organization for future success. The role requires both very strong strategic, as well as operational skills, external and thus client focus, and partnering skills.

The role reports to the Area General Manager for the Western Cluster. Reporting to the role are 2 key account managers and 1 trade activation manager. There is a dotted line to 4 external Sales Representatives and a close collaboration with EMEA regional support functions such as strategic affairs, customer development, and marketing.

Role Description

The Business Unit Leader Lifescan Netherlands will:

Drive and represent the Lifescan business in the Netherlands. Hold P&L responsibility, leading and developing sales and marketing functions in the NL to achieve targets and set KPI’s. Build and maintain relations with relevant stakeholders. Key member of the Benelux Leadership team, and responsible for the development of 3-5 year strategic plans that drive the Lifescan business. with a key focus on profitability, negotiating deals with medical dealers, pharmaceutical wholesalers and identify how changes in Dutch healthcare market might influence distribution and influencing landscape in order to reach NTS and Market share growth for LifeScan.

Develop long term vision and short and midterm strategy for profitable growth of LifeScan the Netherlands.
- Set up and implement the BU strategy based on the company strategy (OGSM)
- Set up and implement a best in class (successful) market access approach: at planning and execution level
- Identify, evaluate and maximize new market opportunities
- Think of realistic and innovative market approaches
- Manage market complexity (diversity in view of market segmentation and product lines)
- Evaluation of individual and team performance of members of business unit

Build and maintain relations with relevant stakeholders
- Maintain/extend existing relations with stakeholders (KOL’s, payers, trade partners, government officials, trade associations, patient associations)
- Maintain/extend internal network (entire organisation, international franchise and corporate level)

Build and maintain a high performing team.
- Recruit high potential employees, set up and realise a succession plan for the team
- Evaluate, develop and coach the team
- Integrate sales and marketing activities

Kwalificaties
- Education: Master degree in trade, management or economics preferably with specialization healthcare
- 7 years experience in Marketing and Commercial Management position with people management experience. Preferably International & Health Care experience
- Key area’s of experience / competencies.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, to deliver results within the context of a global matrix organization
- Good knowledge of the changing Dutch Healthcare market from a payer perspective
- Very strong negotiation skills
- Able to work in a drastically changing environment , and turn threaths into opportunities
- Hands on profile with a high degree of autonomy
- Good leadership skills
- Relationship building skills
- Dealing with ambiguity
- Financial and business acumen
- Proven people and business management skills
- External network with Payor’s, distributors in the Dutch market would certainly be a plus.
- Language skills : Dutch, English
