Company Summary:
Vistakon Ireland is located in Limerick and produces the Acuvue range of contact lenses which is the leading contact lens product in the world. Our Limerick site uses the most advanced technology in the industry and we now employ over 640 people directly. Using our highly automated production process, we produce daily disposable contact lenses while utilizing state of the art technologies such as injection moulding, robotics, vision systems and sterilisation systems.
Vistakon Ireland was established in 1995 in the National Technology Park close to the University of Limerick. The facility was originally fitted with six advanced production lines to manufacture one daily disposable contact lens for the European and Japanese markets. Since then we have expanded a number of times and now have over 31 production lines manufacturing one-day, fortnightly, monthly and colour contact lenses which are shipped worldwide.
Each year, we have increased output because of the increase demand for our Acuvue lenses throughout the world. Continued expansion of our product lines and extensive engineering and retrofit projects ensure that this growth is sustained well into the future.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the IT Manager and as a member of the IT Department focused on delivering IT solutions to the Supply Chain organization, this position is responsible for researching, assessing and implementing new IT solutions that will drive the business forward in areas such as, Analytics, BI, Mobility, Social Media as well as in existing areas of OEE and MES.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new IT systems or upgrades to existing systems levarging cutting edge technologies to implement business solutions.
- Provides Technical leadership and drive the adoption and implemenatation of future state IT systems and architecture.
- Participate in all phases of the software life cycle including writing, reviewing functional specifications, technical specifications, and external interfaces.
- Lead the identification of business needs and associated technology solutions and partner with the business and IT communities to implement.
- Leads assignments, programs and projects of moderate to high complexity, ensuring that project plans are defined and executed to achieve the business and technical objectives while following JnJ system development lifecycle methodology, risk assessment and validation rules or compliance guidelines as needed.
- Provides coaching and guidance to peers, junior team members, co-ops and/or external consultants.-Interfaces with suppliers and vendors to evaluate software, hardware, or services and make recommendations.
- Partnering within a global matrix organization to successfully achieve business goals

Education and Experience:
Essential:
- University degree in Business or Information Technology related program or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years business and/or technology management experience, including team and project management

- Advanced organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of translating customer business needs into technology requirements, as well as budget and resource planning
- Proven track record of delivering results
Desirable:
- Experience working and deploying solutions in one or more of Mobile Applications, Analytics, BI, Social Media, Visrtualisation
- Project Management qualification
- IT Experience within a Life Sciences, Medical Device or Biopharmaceutical environment.
- Experience of plant systems such as MES, SCADA, Lab Management and Quality Management
- Experience of ERP
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Technical qualification, time served or diploma/degree in a technical discipline
- Ability to demonstrate standards of leadership,managing complexitity, credo values, innovation, customer focus, flexible, team player and good influencing skiils
- 6-10 Years experience in a similar role
