JOB TITLE: Engineering Team Leader - NPIDEPARTMENT: Innovation Centre

REPORTS TO: Operations Development Manager

SUMMARY OF JOB:

The Engineering Team Leader (NPI) will lead a team to plan and direct new product introduction activities to deliver DePuy Synthes’ next generation of Joint Reconstruction devices. This will involve the development and deployment of new products and process technologies in collaboration with R&D, Operations Technology Development and the local Manufacturing Plant. The role will interface heavily with functions across the franchise and supply chain to ensure successful launch and stability of New Product Introductions.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. New Product Introduction

1.1. Manage NPI activities for a specific new product portfolio of knee hip and shoulder projects

1.2. Collaborate globally with R&D partners to achieve optimum design for manufacturability for new product development projects

1.3. Ensure that NPI & Product Transfer (PT) projects are run cost effectively and deliver reliable and capable processes utilising Design to Value principles

1.4. Improve site development capabilities to support future growth

1.5. Effectively manage resource deployment across multiple priorities, working closely with the Plant Management team, and strictly following business portfolio processes

1.6. Manage capital spend and budget requirements for NPI projects

1.7. Provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities to project sponsors and senior management

1.8. Provide technical leadership in supporting troubleshooting of difficult problems and investigations. Brings structure, logic, clarity, control and technical excellence to complex and urgent situations

1.9. Oversee the specification and purchase of capital equipment during new product development ensuring balance between optimizing technological capabilities and return on investment.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential

1. Degree in Engineering or Science with a postgraduate Master’s in Engineering or Business. 5 years postgraduate experience in a healthcare/aerospace environment.

2. Recognised qualification or training in project management

3. Previous project management & people management expertise on developing and implementing processes for new products.

4. Proven experience in the development and implementation of strategy for Engineering or NPD function

5. Continuous improvement focus

Desirable

1. Previous R&D management experience in the medical device sector
