The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, Third Party Manufacturing position resides in the North America Procurement organization and supports the Johnson and Johnson Consumer Products Company. This position reports to the North American Director Third Party Manufacturing Strategic Sourcing. The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, Third Party Manufacturing leads and develops North America and Global sourcing strategies (including network optimization) and initiatives for Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) employing the Procurement Strategy Excellence roadmap, principles and toolsets. The individual leads the Supplier Relationship Management for TPMs in assigned categories. This approach delivers key stakeholder requirements in the areas of quality, compliance, customer service, market intelligence, innovation and optimization of end to end value and reduced total cost of ownership. Implementation is conducted adhering to the Global Consumer Procurement Market Engagement Process (MEP) and Playbook. This includes planning and execution of Sourcing events, supplier and stakeholder engagement and communication, negotiations and contract execution.
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, Third Party Manufacturing will create strong linkages between Operations goals and cross-functional partner (including Global Franchise Organizations (GFOs), Regional Marketing, Research Development & Engineering, Finance, Quality Assurance, Innovation Sourcing, Global Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain) objectives while ensuring that all supply chain and global franchise requirements are factored into sourcing decisions during strategy development and execution phases. This person will coordinate and leverage opportunities with other J&J partners and global affiliates, and where applicable create opportunities for small businesses and diverse suppliers to compete for business. The individual works upstream in the product development process to strongly influence the GFOs leaders and other key stakeholders on the siting of new products and technologies and develops market access recommendations where appropriate.
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager is accountable for the TPM and spend management. This individual is directly responsible TPM Business Planning and to meet P and L commitments via cost management and cost improvement programs, inflation management and improving and sustaining profitable growth for assigned categories. Also accountable for supply source selection, supplier relationship management, and working hand in hand with site management to insure all key supplier metrics on Quality and Compliance, customer service, new products and product enhancements and cost management are met in delivering annual goals and objectives for customers and supply chain.
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, Third Party Manufacturing will also lead the negotiation of key supply agreements and partnerships through collaboration with J&J legal counsel and business partners, and insure compliance of the existing supply agreements.
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, Third Party Manufacturing will conduct these activities following the J&J Credo and the requirements of the internal stakeholders. The person will act as liaison between the business partners and TPMs, to ensure a competitive advantage in total value, as well as facilitate and lead supplier management meetings with critical suppliers and other business partners.
This leadership position drives an environment that supports procurement best practices, policies, quality and compliance. This role is required to keep current on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training, adhering to the processes and procedures of their role and the company and displaying the highest level of integrity.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree required. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred. A minimum 8 years of experience in a combination of the following related areas: Third Party Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain Sourcing, Distribution, Business Development, Marketing, Finance, Sales and/or related field. Experience with managing suppliers, bidding and/or negotiating contracts, working on supplier agreements is required. Experience managing and negotiating with global suppliers, especially Third Party (External) Manufacturers is preferred.
An entrepreneurial self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence across functional levels up to the Board or Ownership is required. Strong project management skills are required. Any combination of negotiation, financial and/or analytical skills are required. MS Office Suite proficiency, specifically with MS Excel and PowerPoint is required. Strong knowledge of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device GMP's is preferred. Prior knowledge of Advanced planning systems such as ERP, MRP, and SAP is preferred. Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools, training and/or certification is preferred. Experience with E-Sourcing tools is preferred. Experience in Liquids and Creams Manufacturing and/or Aerosol Manufacturing operations is strongly preferred.
This candidate may be required to travel up to 25% of the time, domestically and internationally. The position is based in Skillman, NJ.
