Five end-to-end Therapeutic Areas (TAs) remain the foundation of the Janssen organizational model. The five TAs are: Cardiovascular and Metabolism (CVM), Immunology, Infectious Disease, Neuroscience, and Oncology. The TA model, with end-to-end strategy and development housed in each TA team, enables Janssen to attract top talent, gain deep scientific and market insights in each TA, increase pipeline productivity, and sustain growth by empowering TA teams to operate with speed, agility, and deep knowledge in their respective TA space.
Cardiovascular and Metabolism (CVM) TA
In light of the enormous global unmet medical need in CVM, and with the successful launch of Janssen products in 2011 and 2013, CVM is an important area of growth and market leadership opportunity for Janssen.
Beyond currently-approved therapies, Janssen is committed to transforming the treatment of diabetes patients through transformational medical innovation, including sourcing the world’s best science, both internally and externally. Current diabetes pipeline work focuses in two areas. First, novel therapies to prevent disease progression, including novel partnerships and internal development programs in Beta cell preservation and proliferation, Beta cell replacement, and reversal of insulin resistance. Second, innovative approaches to target diabetic complications, including research in end-organ protection.
The Associate Director, Emerging Markets Analytics, Diabetes, will be accountable for the Analytics approach, planning, methodologies, analysis delivery, and related business recommendations related to current products and development of the Janssen Diabetes Portfolio and Pipeline in emerging markets, with an initial focus on China, in line with Janssen Strategy. Core areas of responsibility for emerging markets include:
- Primary Research
- Secondary Research
- Sales/Market Performance Analytics
- Market and Product Forecasting
- Competitive Intelligence
- Translational Insights and Actionable Recommendations from work in the areas above.
The position reports directly to Diabetes Disease Area Strategy (DAS) Leader.

Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical commercial/marketing/analytics experience OR extraordinary business problem solving is required. Experience living and working in relevant emerging markets is required. A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area is required. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:
- A proven track record of delivering marketing and/or analytics end products that lead to superior insights and strong business results
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to successfully partner across functional and geographic boundaries
- Emerging strategic thinking and strategic marketing skills, and solid understanding of analytics needs across product stages end-to-end, including launch, life cycle management, business development, and portfolio strategy and management.
- High learning agility and ability to connect implications of scientific insights to market analytics needs, and visa-versa.
- Ability to effectively influence portfolio strategies based on insights and foresights to future scientific direction in diabetes and CVM
- Ability to operate globally and locally and influence in without direct-line reporting authority, including an ability to operate effectively in the relevant emerging markets, including cross-cultural effectiveness in order to access primary resources in emerging markets. Relevant foreign language skills are a benefit.
The position will be based in Raritan, NJ, and will require international travel, as well as willingness to participate in conference calls and global connect sessions with teams in Asia-Pac, which will frequently require evening or early morning availability.
