Ethicon Surgical Care & Energy a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Staff Electro-mechanical Process Engineer, located in Cincinnati, OH.

The Staff EM Process Engineer will operate in a matrixed global organization and will have responsibility for planning and leading activities related to the process development of electromechanical (EM) devices via a concurrent engineering approach from feasibility through development and validation. The candidate must be proficient in leading and coordinating electro-mechanical component and system development activities and validation activities for both medical device and capital equipment. The candidate will have responsibility for leading:

Process development and validation of electromechanical components and their integration into overall assemblies. Depending on the drivers, may require the lead role in process development and validation of the device.

Process development of electro-mechanical box-builds that interconnect with disposable devices.

Component development and validation including but not limited to: motors, gearboxes, batteries, pressure transducers, connectors, wire harnesses, cables, power supplies, LED's, LCD displays, PCBA's, ridged / flex printed circuits, EPROM's, FPGA's, and ASIC 's.

Support the DfM/DfA/DfT activities of EM components and their integration into the overall design of the assembly

Establish in-process and finished good test requirements for electro-mechanical components and capital equipment

Troubleshooting and failure analysis of electro-mechanical components and assemblies utilizing basic tools such as scopes, meters, inspection instruments, etc.

The candidate will prepare all required protocols, test procedures, and functional test requirements. The candidate must also be proficient at developing validation strategies, control plans, pFMEAs, completion reports, and developing design of experiments. The Staff EM engineer will also develop and validate test methods, participate in supplier selection, and support supply chain development for new products.

Qualifications


A BS EE or Electro-mechanical degree required. MS degree preferred. Minimum 7 years of related engineering (related to electro mechanical devices) experience required. Experience in a highly regulated environment is preferred. Knowledge of ISO and cGMP regulations is required. Knowledge and experience with RoHS, UL and IEC 60601 product safety and EMC requirements are preferred. Knowledge of IPC acceptance and workmanship is preferred. Previous experience with leading and conducting process development and validation activities for electro-mechanical components and capital equipment is required. Experience with electro-mechanical manufacturing processes that include: Box build, SMT, PTH, BGA/PGA, device packaging, micro-electronics, motors, gearboxes, batteries, sensors, connectors, wire harnesses, cables, power supplies, LED's, LCD displays, PCBA's, rigid/flex circuits, EPROM's, FPGA's, ASIC 's, software validation, GUI - graphical user interface / displays, flying probe testing, functional testing, HiPot testing and in-circuit testing. Demonstrated experience in design, development, and validation of ESD and EMI controls within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience with industry norms and standards for wiring and cable management.

Competent working knowledge of 6-sigma methodologies, statistical techniques required. Good communication and presentation skills required. A certification in Process Excellence (Green Belt or Black Belt) is preferred. Competent PC literacy including CAD applications preferred.
