JJDC is Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary and corporate venture capital organization. The main activities for JJDC are making venture capital (equity) investments in early stage healthcare companies in support of Johnson & Johnson’s strategy represented by each of the main operating units. JJDC is an important function within the innovation environment enabling Johnson & Johnson to invest, participate, shape and learn in the creation of new products, platforms, services, and business models. JJDC investors are located in the Johnson & Johnson Innovation centers – Menlo Park, CA, Boston, MA, London, UK and Shanghai, China, as well as, New Brunswick, NJ and Tel Aviv, Israel.

JJDC is recruiting for a Manager – Systems and Operations, to be located in New Brunswick, NJ. The individual will be responsible for supporting JJDC’s overall Systems, Technology, and Operations environment. This individual will report to JJDC Finance Head with a dotted line responsibility to the JJDC Chief Operations Officer.

The key responsibilities of the contemplated role include managing overall technology aspects of JJDC specific systems platforms (Investran, Liquid Scenarios, SAP, Crystal Reporting) including strategy, maintenance, vendor management, upgrades, interfaces and change management. This individual will be responsible for designing, programming and producing standard/adhoc systems based reporting capabilities to meet internal and external team member needs. This individual will lead development or enhancement of Portfolio Reporting capabilities; will support Portfolio and Venture analytics efforts with technology solutions. The Manager will design and implement systems solutions for novel transactions (structures, geographic sourcing) as they arise across all JJDC systems. This role will administer software security and access rights across systems platforms. Manage Sarbanes Oxley segregation of duties and other compliance aspects with Finance partners. The position will support all technology aspects of JJDC CRM system implementation with Operations Manager. This individual will co-own the investment data upload process with Venture Transaction Specialist and will implement data quality control processes across systems platforms. The individual will be accountable for ensuring ongoing accuracy of systems data in partnership with key stakeholders. Implement metrics and monitoring processes. The Manager will serve as back-up expert on all equity transaction execution functions including wire transfers, accounting close/journal entries, regulatory and tax aspects; will liaise with JNJ public company broker as necessary. The role will support management of JJDC investment document storage (internal and external), digital signature and other technology based systems and capabilities. The Manager will support the JJDC external website presence including maintenance, enhancements and upgrades in coordination with the JJDC COO, and act as key liaison with internal and external support. This position will support JJDC portfolio analytics for JJDC COO, including integrated analytics between diligence and portfolio information, tracking milestones, and incorporation into strategic management plans. This position will handle coordination with JJDC Business Analytics to enable benchmarking and monitoring performance by company, fund, therapeutics and strategy. This role will manage all ad hoc systems requests and troubleshooting and will be a key liaison with JNJ enterprise IT (ITS).

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in a technology or business oriented discipline. A minimum of 6 years of experience managing systems and software operations in support of a team is required. IT experience related to financial systems, collaboration and document storage solutions, database implementations, hierarchy and administration, programming, report writing, interface building and technical systems troubleshooting is. Experience supporting an Investing Team – Finance and Operations, with working knowledge of accounting basics, GL frameworks, SOX and compliance is required. Understanding of equity investment workflow including key processes, reporting and requirements is preferred. Strong overall Microsoft Office skills. particularly emphasis on Excel, are required. Web based planning and management experience is preferred. Familiarity with J&J systems or similar external systems is preferred. Strong partnering and collaborative team work, along with project planning and process improvement skills are needed. Ability to work in a fast paced collaborative environment while being unfailingly trustworthy is needed. This position will require 15 - 20% travel.
